What is Futsal?

Futsal is the only FIFA and NZ Football approved version of five-aside football and the world’s fastest-growing indoor sport. Futsal is a small-sided – 5v5 – game played with a smaller low bounce ball, on a court without rebound walls or nets. It is a game that combines fun, creativity, speed, technique, teamwork and quick thinking. NZF Futsal has been designed to complement New Zealand Football’s existing programmes and promote and improve participation in football in New Zealand.  
​​​​​​​All you need is the right attitude, soft soled shoes, long socks & shin pads to play one of the fastest growing indoor sports in NZ.​​​​​​​

TERM 4 | 2025 - FUTSAL LEAGUES - (FULL INFORMATION BELOW)

  • Venue: Ilminster Gym

  • Dates: Saturdays, 11 October – 6 December (no games Labour Weekend)

  • Times: 8:30am – 12:30pm

  • Cost per team:•
    5th, 6th & 7th Grade – $160
    8th–13th Grade – $200

Grades

  • 5th & 6th Grade: born 2019–2020

  • 7th Grade: born 2018

  • 8th Grade: born 2017

  • 9th & 10th Grade: born 2015–2016

  • 11th, 12th & 13th Grade: born 2012–2014

Format

  • 5th–7th Grade: 3v3 half court, no goalkeepers, 2 x 15-minute games

  • 8th–13th Grade: 5v5 full court, with goalkeepers, (2 x 20-minute halves)

Additional Information

  • All grades are mixed gender—teams can be all boys, all girls, or mixed.

  • Teams should wear futsal shoes or non-marking sneakers, shin pads, and either a full kit or matching shirts.
