Taranaki Weekly Football review – 21st & 22nd May


Lotto Central Federation League

Levin AFC picked up their first win and points of the season in a 3-1 away victory against ALH Gisborne Thistle with Oliver James bagging a hat trick. The Match of the Round was a local derby in Manawatu as Isles Construction Massey University FC hosted Turbine Residential Ltd North End with North End coming away 3-0 winners. In the only other match played Watsons PN Marist FC secured a 1-0 away win over Napier City Rovers at Bluewater Stadium. The game between GJ Gardner Homes Whanganui Athletic and Alexander Electric Napier Marist was postponed due to Wembley Park being closed for the weekend.

 

Women’s Federation League

Only one match was played this week and it was a local derby between Isles Construction Massey University FC and OneStaff PN Marist. In a seven goal thriller it was the home side Massey they came out 4-3 winners thanks to a brace from Zara-Christie Murrihy. The match between Team McGhie Football Whanganui and NP Rangers AFC was postponed due to Wembley Park being closed for the weekend. Taradale AFC had the Bye for Round 5.

 

Yorb Taranaki Men’s Premiership

FC Western have now opened up a 9 point gap at the top of the table after winning 5-1 when hosting Rough Habits Hawera FC in the Challenge Trophy match, Ethan O’Halloran and Connor Oliver-Rose both getting braces with O’Halloran now leading the Golden Boot race by seven strikes. Peringa United continue their great form picking up a 4-2 win away against KP Joinery Waitara SC, Domenico Squatriti netting twice. Kyan Jones also scored twice to help Novotel Woodleigh FC get their first win and points for the season in a 4-2 home victory against Smith & Sons Eltham AFC. TMT Building Ltd Moturoa AFC got a 2-0 away win at Webster Field over Premier Heating NPBHS 1st XI and Atlas NP Rangers AFC had the Bye in Round 7.

 

Taranaki Men’s Championship

Inglewood AFC continues to lead the pack after knocking over Trafficr NP Rangers AFC 2-0 thanks to two goals from Ethan Collins. Millwards Roofing FC Western remain in second as they retained the Challenge Trophy with a 4-1 victory when hosting Mark Frost Electrical Hawera FC, Matthew Sanger hitting in a brace. Landmark Homes FDMC Senior Team got the 2-1 home win over Smart Rehab & Physio Peringa United to stay in third and Cross Country Rental NPBHS 2nd XI and Western Autos Moturoa AFC played out a 2-2 draw, Jack Richardson getting a double for Moturoa.  A hat trick to David Gilmour and brace to Adrian Wright helped Cunningham Construction Kaitake FC get a 7-0 away win at Spectrum Decorating Services Woodleigh FC. 

 

Taranaki Men’s Division 1

Paul Hamlin Builders Eltham AFC picked up their first win of the season with a 3-1 away win over Withers Coachlines FDMC Development Team. Withers Coachlines Moturoa AFC won 3-0 away to McDonalds Real Estate Stratford AFC with Zahn Ruwhiu netting twice. FC Western Flaming Wolverines remain in third of the table after getting the 5-2 away win against Wonder Minerals Kaponga SC, Shaun Bracegirdle and Luke Stancliffe-White both getting doubles. Taranaki Thru Tubing NP Rangers AFC won 4-1 when hosting Inglewood AFC to remain in second with Luke Snellgrove bagging a brace. In the final match John Hight netted four times to now lead the Golden Boot race as Shining Peak NP Rangers Oddbodz won 10-0 away at Proglaze Waitara SC to keep them at the summit of the league.

 

Taranaki Men’s Division 2

Webber Building Kaitake FC HB’s are pushing closer to the top two after they won 10-0 away to Rob Mason Electrical Group Woodleigh FC, Joseph Means scoring a triple. Three goals to both Leighton Dearden and Nitin Khare plus a double to Ben Clarke helped Pipeline Peringa United win 12-0 when hosted by Town & Country Foods Waitara SC. Stratford AFC Reserves won 3-1 at home against Peringa United Socials with Ayshnal Reddy scoring two goals and Egmont Texturers NP Rangers AFC vs Inglewood AFC ended in  0-0 stalemate. 4U Computer Solutions Hawera FC defaulted to Marty Suchy Harcourts FC Western which keeps Western alone at the top of the table.

 

Tungsten Legal Taranaki Women’s Premiership

Liquid Beanz Peringa United just did enough to get past Kaitake FC 3-1 thanks to two goals from Hannah Andrews. Three goals from Jesseka Fairclough got Inglewood AFC the 4-0 away win over Bullitt Fabrications Eltham AFC and NP Rangers AFC also won 4-0 away against NPGHS 2nd XI. Excel Refrigeration Moturoa AFC continues to lead the pack after winning 9-0 away to Hipp Accounting Hawera FC thanks to four goals from Fernanda Toscani plus braces to Anna Hinton and McKenzie Kawana-Waugh. Seven goals from Kate Phipps and a double from Laura Styles saw TSH Moturoa AFC win 12-2 away at Worley Woodleigh FC. In the final match Naki Electrical Waitara SC won 20-0 at home over Tungsten Legal Stratford AFC with braces from Grace Soffe, Lana Kingi, Summer Oliver, Sharnele Murray and eight goals from Rebecca Busteed who now leads the Golden Boot race on 24 strikes.
