The Roly Taylor championship featured some exciting matches this weekend, with several teams battling it out for valuable points. Here's a recap of the games and the results.

Sportz Bar Whanganui Athletic Cosmos faced off against Whanganui City FC Hammers in a highly anticipated matchup. Despite early opportunities from Athletic Cosmos, City FC Hammers with the help from Cosmos scored three goals and secured a 3-1 victory. It was a dominant performance from City FC Hammers, who controlled the midfield and created several scoring opportunities throughout the match.

In another closely contested match, Rivercity Chiefs took on DHFC Rovers. Durie Hill Rovers came out on top, winning the game 2-1. It was a hard-fought win for DHFC Rovers, who had to withstand a late surge from Rivercity Chiefs.

Wanganui City Hammers Old Boys suffered a heavy defeat against Whanganui Collegiate 1st XI, losing 5-0. It was a one-sided affair, with Collegiate 1st XI dominating possession and creating numerous chances.

Whanganui Athletic Weekenders hosted Marist Celtic in a match that saw Marist Celtic emerge victorious, winning the game 5-1. Marist Celtic put on a clinical display, scoring several well-worked goals to secure the win.

Rivercity FC faced off against Durie Hill 1st XI, with DHFC 1st XI emerging as the clear winners, securing a 4-0 victory. Durie Hill 1st XI stepped up in the second half, dominating possession and creating several scoring opportunities.

Finally, MTF Finance Athletic Lions took on Marist Casuals, with Marist Casuals securing a 3-1 victory. It was a closely contested match, with both teams creating several chances, but Marist Casuals proved to be the more clinical team in front of goal.

In addition to the Roly Taylor Championship, the Kelly Hiroa Premiership also had some exciting matches this weekend.

Whanganui Athletic Treadwell Gordon faced off against Marist Women, with Marist Women emerging as clear winners, winning the game 6-0. It was a dominant performance from Marist Women, who controlled the game from start to finish, scoring six goals and keeping a clean sheet.

WCFC Women’s 1sts played against Whanganui Girls College, with City Women’s 1sts coming out on top, winning the game 2-0. It was a tightly contested match, with both teams creating several chances, but City Women’s 1sts were able to convert two of their opportunities to secure the win.

Durie Hill FC Angels were awarded a win by default over Rivercity Scrappers, who were unable to field a team.

Whanganui Athletic Women’s Reserves faced off against a depleted WCFC Thirsty Women’s side.  City Thirsty Women emerged as victors, winning the game 3-2. It was a closely contested match, with both teams exchanging goals throughout the game, but City Thirsty Women were able to score a late winner to secure the victory.

Overall, it was a great weekend of football in both the Roly Taylor Championship and the Kelly Hiroa Premiership, with several standout performances and surprising results. The teams will be looking to build on their performances and continue to push for success as the season progresses.
