This month’s valuable volunteer is the current Port Hill United FC President – Steve Doyle. Steve relocated to Hawke’s Bay in the early 2000’s and quickly settled on Port Hill as his club and has been there ever since. Now in his second stint as Club President, his commitment to the club has never been questioned as an ever present on the club committee holding a number of roles, as well as the other time commitments he has made over the years. Those around the club would often have found Steve using his building skills around the clubrooms for various projects or down the grounds early setting up nets and sponsor boards so all is perfect for match day.
As a player Steve has played for a number of the clubs sides and is currently a member of the Port Hill masters team. However it is coaching that has taken up a fair amount of Steve’s time where he has consistently coached either the Women’s first team or one of the social sides for around a decade.
You think that been involved in club management, coaching and playing at one club would be enough but it doesn’t seem so in this case. Steve has previously held roles with the Central Football FTC program and at present is the Coach of the Sacred Heart College 1st XI side in Napier.
Congratulations Steve Doyle on been the Valuable Volunteer for this month and thanks for all your efforts facilitating and being a part of our beautiful game in Hawke’s Bay.
Stay tuned for next month’s winner!
