The match of the round saw Havelock travel to Arena Turf Manawatu for a match up with reigning champs and current league leaders Palmerston North Marist. Havelock are one of the sides expected to challenge Marist for the title this season but Marist showed at this point in time they are still top dogs at this point in time with a 4-1 victory at home. Marist have now knocked over Taradale and Havelock in consecutive weeks, who are currently closest to them on the table. It’s only a three point gap back to Taradale however as the table remains tight.

A strong first half was the key as New Plymouth rangers went to the break with a 2-goal lead. Moturoa fought till the end and pulled a goal back in the 85th minute. However, it was to only be a consolation as Rangers held on to secure a 2-1 victory.
